Läkare ansåg att en man var sjuk eftersom att han var homosexuell. 07:16

USA. Matthew Moore, 45, uppsökte en läkare för att genomgå en fullständig kroppsundersökning. 

Hans tester avslöjade att han hade B-12 brist, högt blodtryck och höga kolesterolvärden, något som han kallade "fullständigt normalt för mig".

När Moore, som är öppet homosexuell, gick tillbaka till mottagningen för att diskutera sina resultat märkte han en notering i papprena som han fick av sköterskan.

Klassades som ett kroniskt tillstånd

Bland hans diagnoser hade läkaren noterat "Homosexuellt beteende (302.0)"  där enligt medicinska journaler homosexualitet tolkas som ett kroniskt tillstånd. 

– När jag kollade upp koden 302.0 klassades det som sexuellt avvikande beteende eller psyskisk sjukdom, och koden har inte använts sedan 1973, säger Moore och fortsätter:

– Jag var så förvånad. Först skrattade jag och tänkte att "här är ännu ett sätt att förminska homosexuella på" och sedan när jag tänkte på det mer och mer så blev jag arg.

Försvarade sitt beslut

Han återvände till läkaren som försvarade sitt beslut med att homosexualitet "fortfarande betraktas som en sjukdom".

Moore berättade att han inte har något emot att man noterar hans sexuella läggning i hans medicinska journal men att han har problem med att det anges som en sjukdom och ett kronisk tillstånd.

Sjukhuset bad om ursäkt

Moore kontaktade sjukhuset som bad om ursäkt och förtydligade att sjukhuset inte ser homosexualitet som en sjukdom och att de inte godkänner användningen av koden 302.0

– Om jag var en 14-årig pojke i en liten stad i Indiana, där jag kommer ifrån, och om en läkare talade om för mig eller mina föräldrar att jag var sjuk för att jag var homosexuell, då skulle det verkligen skada mig, säger Moore, skriver NBC.

He somehow, I don’t know how, has a high propensity to put himself in suggestive situations.

This is contended but based on Harry’s proclivities this does not at all seem unlikely to me, especially when you look at Niall and the interviewer’s reaction.
